Fluminense Demolish São Paulo 6-0 in Maracana Rout

Fluminense delivered a stunning 6-0 demolition of São Paulo at the Estadio do Maracana in Brazilian Serie A action. The Rio de Janeiro side dominated from start to finish, recording their most emphatic victory in what became a complete mismatch against the visiting Paulistas.

Agustín Canobbio opened the scoring in the 9th minute, converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the high center of the goal. Martinelli doubled the lead in the 16th minute with a left-footed strike from the center of the box to the top left corner following a fast break. Nonato extended the advantage in the 24th minute, firing a right-footed shot from a difficult angle on the left to the high center of the goal, with Kevin Serna providing the assist after another fast break.

The second half brought more misery for São Paulo. John Kennedy made it 4-0 in the 69th minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner, assisted by Kevin Serna following yet another fast break. Canobbio completed his brace in the 77th minute, striking a right-footed shot from the right side of the box to the bottom left corner with Nonato providing the assist on another counter-attack. Kevin Serna capped the rout in the 87th minute, scoring from very close range to the center of the goal with Yeferson Soteldo's assistance.

Fluminense controlled 56.3% of possession while registering 11 shots compared to São Paulo's solitary effort on target. The hosts' clinical finishing on fast breaks proved devastating, with four of their six goals coming from counter-attacks that exposed São Paulo's defensive frailties.

São Paulo made five substitutions in a desperate attempt to stem the tide, but Fluminense's dominance never wavered throughout the 90 minutes. The comprehensive victory showcased Fluminense's attacking prowess and left São Paulo searching for answers after one of their heaviest defeats of the campaign.
