Minamino Stuns PSG as Monaco Claims Crucial Victory
Sixth-placed AS Monaco stunned league-leaders Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at Stade Louis II in a crucial Ligue 1 encounter. The victory moved Monaco to 23 points while PSG remained top with 30 points despite the setback.
Takumi Minamino broke the deadlock in the 68th minute with a left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner. Aleksandr Golovin provided the assist for the Japanese midfielder's decisive strike.
Paris Saint-Germain dominated possession with 56.6% compared to Monaco's 43.4% and registered 17 shots to Monaco's 10. However, Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky made crucial saves, including a spectacular stop from Vitinha's right-footed effort in the 90th minute that was saved in the top left corner.
The match turned further in Monaco's favor when Thilo Kehrer received a red card in the 80th minute after a VAR review upgraded his initial yellow card for a foul on Ibrahim Mbaye. PSG pressed desperately in the closing stages, with João Neves missing a header from close range in the seventh minute of stoppage time and Willian Pacho seeing his header blocked moments later.
AS Monaco will next host Brest on December 5, while Paris Saint-Germain host Stade Rennais on December 6.
